i am absolutely scared shitless right now

i can’t sleep.  i’m sitting up on the couch making to do lists.  it’s supposed to calm me down.

it’s not.

why does making lists of things i have to do make me feel better?  why do i think it’s going to make me feel better to organize a pretty itemized agenda of everything that i haven’t done yet?

next week is very overwhelming and if i don’t go to sleep just yet it’s that much further away.

well, dear lord!

the last time i wrote here bat boy rehearsals hadn’t even begun yet!  now they’re drawing to a close!  where has the time gone!?  so much has happened since then: classes started, rehearsals, “elegies,” new job, new clients at too fabulous, two FUDGEY awards, and the shambles of what i once called my social life.  let’s see if we can do it all justice.

classes this semester are both great and awful at the same time.  the work load isn’t anything super awful, but it’s very frustrating.  that’s all.

the rehearsal process for bat boy hasn’t really been all i had hoped it would have been.  it is not at all the same feeling i got from “i sing!” and “into the woods” and have no idea why.  a few reasons have been contemplated but they don’t really apply.  i will be very happy when we finally begin completely running the show and actually perform it in front of audiences.  then the past two months of work will have been worth something.

“elegies for angels, punks and raging queens” is going to be the most fantasmagoricaful evening of wonder ever.  that’s a promise.  i am directing this ‘concert evening’ with siouxsanna ramirez-cruz with musical direction by julia carey.  the office of diversity services at suffolk university is producing this event and we’re staging it at the newly-renovated c. walsh theatre.  it’s going to be absolutely incredible.  i am so excited to be working with such a diverse and talented ensemble to bring to life what i believe to be one of the most important pieces of theatre i’ve ever encountered.

i’ve also been working since late august in the performing arts department at emerson.  it’s such an amazing job.  fabulous people.  absolutely fabulous.  HUGE improvement.

additionally, too fabulous for words is doing quite well.

continuing with the exciting, the f.u.d.g.e. theatre company held its first annual fudgey awards ceremony in mid-september. i was nominated for a few awards and went home with two!  the first was shannon’s board member special award.  she created the “newbie of the year” award and awarded it to me for the work i’ve done for the company since i joined.  i also got the award for best supporting actor in a musical for “narrator/mysterious man” in “into the woods”.  it was a magical evening and the party continued into more fabulousness at tina’s fab pad.

that’s about all the news that’s fit to print.  as a parting note, please buy your tickets to see bat boy: the musical.  it’s going to be fierce, kids.  fierce.  we were even written up in the boston page of the broadwayworld.com website.  we’re too legit to quit.
